The entire mobile phone industry got swept away in a touchscreen bananza after Apple finally released the iPhone 3G, a touchscreen phone that had eye-catching features and a compact and precise user interface that got people very interested. Some people were so eager to buy the iPhone 3G that they took less notice of the actual price of the phone and the monthly bills that came with the postpaid plan, which would depend on the company the user bought the phone from. If you’re interested in knowing how much does an iPhone cost, then you might want to have a look at this.

When buying the iPhone 3G, you will be given the choice to choose from four authorized retailers: Apple, AT&T, Walmart, and of course, Best Buy. Apart from Walmart, which charges $2 cheaper than the others, you would be required to pay the same price if you buy the iPhone 3G from any of the three sellers, in which the price would of course depend on the hard drive space built into the phone. You will then be required to sign a new 2-year contract postpaid plan with AT&T to be able to start using your new Apple iPhone 3G. Here is a comprehensive list of the prices for the unit itself:

· The 8GB Apple iPhone only comes in black and would cost you $199.

· The 16GB Apple iPhone in both black and white would cost you $299.

· As mentioned before, buying the Apple iPhone from Walmart would normally cost you $2 cheaper as compared to the other three authorized sellers.

Unfortunately though for AT&T subscribers who aren’t eligible yet to upgrade, they will be charged with the following prices if they wish to buy an Apple iPhone 3G:

· The 8GB Apple iPhone in black: $399

· The 16GB Apple iPhone in black: $499

· The 16GB Apple iPhone in white: $499

Not only that, these particular subscribers will be charged $18 to upgrade whether or not they are eligible for the previous set of discounted prices for the iPhone 3G.

But of course, the phone itself isn’t the only thing you will be spending for since you need to sign a 2-year service contract with AT&T, which includes a voice call plan, a text messaging plan, and a data plan. The company will only offer a $30 per month postpaid plan for the Apple iPhone 3G, no more no less, and you will be required to pay a one-time activation fee to be able to set up your new phone number, which amounts to about $36.

Yes, there are a lot of numbers to be considered when buying the iPhone, but this is important because this is where your money is going whenever you use the phone to call, text, or send data through email via your iPhone. And since AT&T is the only service provider required to subscribe to, you need to know the rates for both voice and text plans and see if the plan assigned to you is really what you need.

The iphone, iphone 3G and the iphone 3GS can be found purchased at Best Buy, WalMart, Costco, AT&T Store, the Apple Store.
