How Much Does a Tattoo Cost?

Tattoos are some of the most controversial yet ancient forms of art that many people, at one point in their lives, would get one done for themselves.  The ancient tribes used to mark their bodies with tattoos to indicate strength and achievement, and the art has never died down since then.  What’s more, there are over a thousand designs possible for a tattoo with artists all over the country willing to do it either from scratch and basing on an original design or from a flash where they can just copy or tweak it a little bit to give it a different look.

But still, a lot of people who want to get tattoos would always ask the usual questions like “Is it going to hurt?” or “Will I be able to take it off when I feel like changing to a different and new tattoo?” and of course the ever-famous “how much does a tattoo cost?”.  When it comes to how much you will be spending to get your tattoo/s done, there are a lot of factors to consider.  It’s not just a matter of estimation here since there are over a hundred possible tattoo artists to choose from with different price rates and charges for their services.  Here are some of the most important factors to consider when pricing a tattoo:

1.    The size of the tattoo plays a very important part in the pricing of the tattoo since this means more time and work for the artist.  The bigger the tattoo, the more expensive it’s going to be, so if you want to save a little bit of cash from your tattoo, don’t ask for a full body design.

2.    Where you want to place the tattoo is also a factor when it comes to the cost of the tattoo.  Some tattoo artists would charge more if the tattoo is to be placed in a very difficult area in the body where it would require him or her to be extra careful and precise in his or her work.

3.    The design of the tattoo is one of the most important factors when determining the price.  The more intricate the design that you want, the more it’s going to cost you.  So if you want to save up a little, go for a design that isn’t too detailed or too difficult to copy.

4.    In relation to the third factor, the colors chosen for the tattoo also affect the overall price of the service.  Again, the more colors needed for the design, the more expensive the tattoo.

5.    There are tattoo artists who charge more for an original from-scratch design as compared to copying or tweaking a tattoo design from a flash.  This is because of the effort needed to come up with an original design on the part of the tattoo artist.

6.    Picking a well-known and reputable tattoo artist also makes a difference.  You don’t want to spend a hundred dollars on a tattoo made by some amateur, so it’s best that you ask around for names of tattoo artists who have great portfolios and who have been working as an artist for more than six months or for years.
