How Much Does a Dermabrasion cost?
Dermabrasion is the surgical process of smoothing and removing damaged skin including scars to rejuvenate and refinish the skin. A Dermabrader is used to perform this operation wherein the top layers of the skin are sanded. The process is also known as abrasion. The process is very painful and will require some form of anesthetic to be applied. It can be performed on a small area or the whole face and the length of recovery will depend on the extent of the surgery.
There are other types of surgical and non-surgical procedures that can be used as an alternative to Dermabrasion but the advantage in it is a rather simple yet effective type of surgical procedure compared to other plastic surgery operations.
Dermabrasion can be performed on anyone, men and women, young or old but of course the older adults will heal slower. The procedure is never performed when the patient has acne in its active state, extensive skin burns and previous treatments to reduce the risk of infectious reactions.
Some of the unwanted effects of Dermabrasion are the permanent change or discoloration of skin, blotchiness of skin, disappearance of freckles, and flare-ups for people who have allergies, frequent fevers and/or cold sores while other side-effects involve pigmentation of the skin and lightening or darkening of the skin caused by sun exposure after the treatment. There is also the chance of developing small whiteheads after the surgery but they will usually disappear, on the other hand, patients might have to use an abrasive pad or soap or the surgeon might have to occasionally remove them. The pores of the patient’s skin might be enlarged after surgery but when he/she heals and the swelling subsides it should return to normal. Planning for Dermabrasion is pretty much straightforward as long as you have a doctor who is experienced and qualified to administer the operation.
