How Much does a Brow Lift Cost?

Brow lift operations also known as eyebrow or forehead lifts are surgical procedures used to help patients achieve a more vibrant, younger, and refreshed look. In this operation the surgeon smoothes the forehead to reduce “Frown Lines” and wrinkles while taking the eyebrow to a much more elevated position. Brow lifts mainly improve the face but not as drastic as other types of surgical procedures such as facelifts which can be considered the improved yet more tedious method of brow lifting.

There are two general types of brow lift surgeries. They’re either “traditional” or “endoscopic”. What type of brow lift will be used will depend on the patients need; the less drastic method towards brow lifting is the endoscopic method.

Preparation for both types will include consultations with the surgeon to study the patient’s medical history and background as well as to exclude problems. Surgeons will always have the patient do some sort of before operation preparation such as stopping smoking and drinking and changing or assigning medications. Other methods actually include hair growing before the operation so that hair may cover the scarred areas due to the lift.

One of the types, the traditional method, begins with a long incision starting at the ear then the top of the forehead behind the hairline ending at the other ear at the back as well. After that, the surgeon will remove certain muscle tissues and excess skin from between the brows. Skin is then smoothened, mainly affecting the horizontal frown lines (wrinkles) and then elevating the eyebrow line. Incision is closed and stitched, padding and/or bandages are then applied to the patient.

The other type, the endoscopic method, begins with the surgeon making several tiny incisions along the edge of the hairline and then will enter the skin equipped with an endoscope which is a small light with a camera. Using it, the surgeon will rearrange muscle tissues within and between the eyebrows and forehead and smoothing the area afterwards. The skin is moved ever so slightly to produce smoother or eliminate wrinkles and elevate the brow. The skin is fastened after the procedure and then sutured.

Risk involved is minimal but not non-existent. Patients may have reactions towards the anesthetic used but this happens rarely. Some side effects of brow lifts include numbness and discomfort for a short period of time. Patients will also lose some hair and is unavoidable because the incisions to be made are on or beyond the hairline.

The downtime for this operation is around one week but may exceed that time, more specifically 7-10 days. Visible and hidden scars should disappear in a few weeks and swelling or bruising can be hidden using cosmetic products. During downtime patients must adjust on having minimal physical activities specially activities which increase blood pressure such as jogging.
